Spring 2020 Room & Board Credits

Room/Board Credits

for

Residence Halls, Sorority Houses, and FIJI House Residents:

April 1, 2020

Dear students,

Due to the Coronavirus/ COVID-19 pandemic, Mines offered to prorate room and board (if applicable) charges and apply the residual as a credit to your Mines account for those students who notified Residence Life and officially moved out of the Mines residence halls or Mines-owned sorority and fraternity houses by March 30, 2020.

The exact amount of the credit to your Mines account will vary by room type, location and meal plan (if applicable). Specific credit amounts for each room type/location and meal plan are provided on this page.

Students will receive the prorated amount as a credit on their Fall 2020 Mines student account. The credit will be shown as a financial aid award in Trailhead in early June and will be disbursed to your student account in mid-August to be applied against Fall 2020 tuition, fees, and charges.

Exceptions:

Graduating students: Students who are scheduled to graduate in Spring or Summer 2020 will see the credit on their student account by approximately April 17 and may request a refund if they have a credit balance.*

Withdrawing students: Those students who complete a withdrawal from Colorado School of Mines before Census Day of Fall 2020 may request a refund if they have a credit balance.*

* See Bursar Office: Frequently Asked Questions for more information on how to request a refund for a credit on your account (Click “THERE IS A CREDIT ON MY ACCOUNT. HOW CAN I GET A REFUND?”)

Raise Your Hand:

We understand that this has been a very challenging and uncertain situation for our students. Mines is committed to making sure every student has the full opportunity to succeed academically, both during this period of online learning and virtual student services, and once Mines returns to our regular mode of learning and community support. If we can assist you in finding support you need or answering questions you have, please Raise Your Hand” to submit a request for assistance.  We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, typically within 1-2 business days.

Support your fellow Orediggers:

Furthermore, we know that the impact of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis on many students and their families is financially disruptive at least, and for some devastating at worst. If you or your family happen to be in a fortunate position to be able to provide support to other Mines students who have unexpected financial needs as a result of this crisis, we encourage you to consider making a donation to the Student Emergency Fund. Learn more at . We are grateful for any amount you might consider sharing with your fellow Orediggers, so that we can support our entire campus community as much as possible, ensuring the best opportunity for all students to thrive and succeed. Thank you.
