Timelines for First-Year Housing and Theme Learning Communities

First-Year Residency Requirement Lifted

First-year students may choose to live on-campus or off-campus during the 2020-2021 academic year. More Housing Information and Process Changes TBD.

Residence Life will be announcing new housing configurations and processes for the coming school year as soon as possible. We will update our website and communicate these changes via email to inform all students as changes are determined and if any actions are needed. Please continue checking your Mines email and this website for more details and housing information to come.

Residence Life is waiving the first-year residency requirement for the 2020-2021 academic year. Members of the Class of 2024 will not be required to live on-campus in an effort to help lower density in the residence halls while allowing students to commute from home or pursue other housing options off-campus.

正规体育投注Any first-year student intending to live off-campus must complete a first-year off-campus residency form by June 26, 2020. Link provided below.

Any first-year student intending to live on-campus must complete a first-year residence halls housing application through the housing portal on Trailhead by June 1, 2020.

First-Year On-Campus Housing Information

2020-2021 Incoming First-Year Student Housing Sign-up Timeline

Please Note: First-year housing assignments are based on a self-selection process during designated times slots in June. Time slots are based on your date of enrollment. All incoming first-year students must complete a housing application in order to recieve a time slot and if roommates are confirmed during the application process, all confirmed roommates will receive the same time slot based on the roommate with the earliest enrollment date. Confirmed roommates will only receive the same time slot and do NOT pull each other into selected assignments which makes communication during the self-selection/time slot process essential. All students must self-select their own housing assignment during their designated time slot. If a first-year student does not self-select their own housing assignment or does not apply, then Residence Life will automatically assign the student based on remaining housing availability. The housing application will enable first-year students to submit their housing preferences and confirm potential roommates, but housing preferences and confimed roommates are NOT guaranteed due to the nature of the self-selection process.

April 1 – June 1

正规体育投注The first-year housing application* for on-campus Residence Halls will be available through the Housing Portal (located under the Campus Life tab on Trailhead) under the Residence Halls Academic Year 2020-2021 term. In the application, first-year student will submit their personal and emergency contact information, submit housing preferences for Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH), Theme Learning Communities (TLCs), Residence Hall location/room type preferences, create a roommate profile, perform an optional search and selection/confirmation of potential roommate(s)** as well as select a resident meal plan, and sign their housing agreement.

After the application is completed, we encourage students to continue returning to the Roommate Selection section through June 1st to search, connect with, and request/confirm potential roommates if desired. Roommates that request and confirm each other during the application process will receive the same time slot*** for their assignment self-selection process in June.

*A first-year housing application is required for a student to be designated a time slot for the self-selection assignment process. Housing preferences and confirmed roommates submitted through the application are NOT guranteed.

**If roommates are confirmed during the application process, all confirmed roommates will receive the same time slot based on the roommate with the earliest enrollment date. Confirmed roommates only receive the same time slot and do NOT pull each other into selected assignments together which makes communication during the self-selection/time slot process essential.
